The JJC holds quarterly volunteer meetings as well as continued training for our many volunteers. It’s important we support one another because we are better together. So far this year we were able to go over a refresher on some of the basics of mentoring minors behind the walls of the YDF. This is a great responsibility which we don’t take lightly. We were also able to have a guest come in and share on suicide awareness.
I want to give a special thank you to Monika Sandoval, for sharing her story and educating us on breaking the stigma of mental health issues and raising awareness of teen suicide.

Volunteer Statistics
The Juvenile Justice Chaplaincy could not do what we do without our dedicated volunteers. We currently have over 100 (70)volunteers from churches all over the greater Sacramento area. We average a 1 to 1 (1 to 2) ratio of volunteers to residents. This gives us the unique opportunity to encourage and teach hundreds of young men and women who come through this facility.
